The BPX machine is designed to machine bedposts. It is CNC controlled in the X, Y and Z axes. A 15” color touch screen with an integral industrial PC is used. The computer saves and recalls all programs
The machine can saw, drill, route, and insert pins. Separate stations are set up for the different machining processes. All locations of machined features are CNC controlled. In addition, the depth of drilling is CNC controlled and peck drilling may be done if necessary. Routing may be done in a straight line or shapes may be accomplished. The depth of cut as well as the length of cut for the saw groove is also programmable. The number of pins may be changed from part to part.
A typical machine will cut a groove, drill for and insert steel pins, route for mating pieces, drill for hardware, and bore the end of the post to allow a frame to be finished. Any combination of machining processes may be combined to finish the post to your requirements.
Most posts have about a twenty second cycle time for all machining processes. There are no manual set ups and a new program is available in seconds. Many options and configurations are available for bed posts as well as similar parts.
